Fall Gear 2026: Preview

It was a glorious month of visiting friends, lounging by the ocean, and eating fresh seafood! While we were on vacation, our RainyDayIntern was busy sorting and organizing all of the items that had come into the office for review this Fall.

Veise SmartLock

We installed a biometric lock a long time ago, before smart locks became widely available. After using one for a long time, we know now what features we want in one. The challenge is finding a lock with all of them. Fortunately, us and Veise had the same thoughts!

We will install this lock in the Fall, use it over the winter, and report back on how it performed. We are excited by all the progress smart locks have made over the years, and we are looking forward to seeing it firsthand.

Reolink

Like smart locks, security cameras have come a long way. Smart locks manage the point of entry. Cameras keep a watchful eye on the perimeter, inside and outside.

Reolink is a company that has been innovating in the security camera space for a long time. We have been a fan ever since our first Reolink camera almost a decade ago. We like Reolink’s tech, but what we really like is their approach to ease of use, which, by extension, covers the installation process.

It is with that in mind that we got interested in the Argus MagiCam.

Reolink Argus MagiCam is a 2MP wireless, power-efficient camera for indoor and outdoor use. We are interested because it features:

Magnetic Mounting for Easy Installation;
Up to 9 Months of Battery Life;
Dual-Band 2.4/5GHz Wi-Fi; and
No Monthly Fees.

FirstLook will be early in the Fall, with the Installation and FirstUse later in the season.

CyberVintage

A tech-tool company based in Denmark, where design, craftsmanship, and minimalism are a way of life, is a good description of Cyber Vintage. Thoughtfully designed products that enhance both productivity and aesthetics are their goal.

The FlexForm, a foldable stand designed for laptops/tablets/phones, is a fine example of Cyber Vintage’s offerings that embody the company’s philosophy. We will have a closer look at the FlexForm in the coming weeks.

DaShield

Our twenty-six-year-old Boxster has never seen the inside of a garage. The paint on the car, even after all this time, is still in great shape because we cover the car when it is in the driveway. Over the years, we have covered the car with outdoor covers from a lot of companies. Eventually, they all succumbed to the relentless beating from the Sun, the weather, and age.

Will the Ultimum laminated cover from DaShield be different? We are eager to find out, as our current cover is literally disintegrating as we write this.

Features of the Ultimum Cover:

Boxster Window Repair Kit

The plastic window of the Boxster’s convertible top needs replacing. A shop wanted over $3K to put on a new top. Before we did that, we wanted to see if we could just sew on a new piece of marine-grade plastic used in sails. To do that, we will try doing it using a manual sewing kit. It should be a fun DIY project 🙂

Beyond Test Kitchen

Plant-based substitutes that mimic the taste, texture, and appearance of real meat have improved since the last time we surveyed what was on the market.

Beyond Test Kitchen, launched by Beyond Meat in October 2025 to test innovative, limited-edition plant-based products, has received very positive reviews. We thought it was time to see for ourselves. We will let readers know what we think of their Tasting Bundle.

Books

RainyDayMagazine readers know we love recommending interesting books. For the Fall of 2026, we have three amazing books that will appeal to children or the child in everyone.
