Reolink All-in-One Solar Floodlight: FirstLook
Lights, Camera, Action...captured!!!
It’s always exciting when we get something from our Reolink friends! What made their latest delivery more exciting was that the outside of the package gave us no clue as to what was inside!

Content
A motion-activated floodlight is a really useful addition to a home security system, but an all-in-one solar-powered floodlight security cam? Well, that ups the security game to the next level, and that is exactly what Reolink sent to us!

FirstLook
The Reolink Solar Floodlight Cam unit is completely self-contained. The solar panel is fixed on top of the housing. Two LED floodlights are on the side. Their angles may be independently adjusted. The security camera is in front, the motion sensor is at the bottom, and the mounting hole is on the back.

Camera
Specs:
- Sensor: 1/3″ CMOS Sensor, 2560×1440 (4MP) @15fps
- Lens: f=2.3mm, fixed F=2.2,
- Video: 10 – 15fps (default: 15fps)
- IR night vision

On the front of the unit are the camera, two LED status lights, and the IR sensor.

Lights
The two angle-adjustable panels can put out up to 1,000 lumens of illumination. The color temperature of the floodlights is customizable, from 3,000K to 6,000K, from soft to cold, to meet different security needs.

AI-enhanced detection means that the sensor can tell the difference between people, vehicles, and animals, and the Reolink Solar Floodlight Cam responds with different lighting responses based on what it has detected. Scare away potential intruders without freaking out the cat? We are in!!!
Mount
The mount for this floodlight security cam is very simple: it’s a ball-socket design that allows for precise positioning without fuss. The kit comes with a custom tightening wrench and a stick-on template for placement of the base plate of the mount.

To attach the floodlight, screw the metal post of the mount into the mounting hole at the back of the unit. Once the post is secured, the whole thing can then be attached to the base plate and secured using the special wrench. This is about as simple as it gets! Don’t worry, we’ll show how to do it in the Installation write-up 🙂

Sensor, Ports, & Power
The motion-triggered sensor has a 150º detecting angle with a 33ft (10m) range. The security recordings are saved directly to local MicroSD storage, not uploaded to the cloud…which means no subscription fees. Yay 🙂 This approach also offers better privacy protection and helps protect the data from unauthorized access. Double Yay 🙂 All the ports are protected from dirt and moisture by rubber caps.

The integrated high-efficiency SolarEase panel powers the unit by keeping the 7800mAh rechargeable battery topped up with just 1 hour of sunlight each day. The solar panel begins charging at 1000 lux (roughly 10x lower than full daylight, about that of an overcast day). This means that it will start charging during early morning, late afternoon, or when it is cloudy. A fully charged battery can last for months without additional daylight! That’s pretty amazing.

Reolink’s optimized MPPT technology enables solar conversion efficiency of up to 26%, ensuring charging even in low-light or partially shaded conditions. Considering that modern residential solar panels typically operate at 15% to 22% efficiency, with premium models reaching 22-23%, what Reolink has packed into this power system is pretty impressive!
On top of it all, a USB Type-C port allows for additional powering options should they be required.
FirstThoughts
We are excited about this Reolink Solar-powered Floodlight Security Cam. Weatherproof, wide-angle of view, and color night vision capabilities are all awesome, but not having to worry about power and subscription fees is the deal-closer.

Installation and FirstUse will be next. We’ll have more about this security cam’s rich set of features and capabilities then. Look for it by the end of Spring.
