RainyDayGiftGuide 2011 : Photography

Kata bags are the only ones we trust to protect our photography gear. Every year we look forward to seeing what’s new from Kata, and this year is no different. The Kata bags that caught the interest of our RainyDayPhotographers were:

The TLB-300 PL Telephoto Lens Backpack is designed to safeguard a Pro DSLR with 300mm Telephoto Lens attached, while keeping it as light and as compact as possible. A padded cradle divider fits around the base of the lens where it joins the camera, and provides stability to the heavy load. There is also an adjustable circumference divider that will fit around any lens diameter, and an internal securing-strap which make sure the camera and lens are always secured and balanced. The harness system ensures ergonomic weight distribution and carrying comfort.

Need to haul a pro tripod to a shoot? The TC 30-35 PL Tripod Case is designed to safeguard the gear while keeping the entire package as light and compact as possible. The 30”-35” long bag is designed to unfurl, spread out, and be used as a field mat. This design also means the length of the bag is flexible.

The MiniBee-111 UL backpack features a combination of technology, materials and design which embody the ultimate essence of lightweight protection without compromises. Like the 120 PL, this bag will hold a DSLR with a lens and 3 to 5 other lenses or accessories. It will also accommodate most 13” portable computers (MBP, iPad, etc.). The bag is designed with a double compartment concept: the lower compartment offers a special padded camera insert, Cocoon Pouches and Aeriform Dividers to fit the camera/camcorder with accessories, while the upper compartment provides plenty of space for personal effects.

The Minibee-120 PL is a multi-featured backpack created to give DSLR shooters a bag to handle transport, storage, and quick access. This compact backpack can handle a DSLR with a long (70-200mm) lens attached, a bunch (6-8) of additional lenses, flash and accessories. Also, there is a pocket for a 13” laptop or iPad and other personal gear. As with all Kata bags, the modular Aeriform Dividers enable the use to design a custom interior fit for all types of camera gear.

The traveling photographer needs portability as well as sturdiness and stability. National Geographic’s EARTH EXPLORER is created using environmentally friendly components and sustainable materials such as hemp and cotton. Brass buckles are used instead of plastic fastenings. The National Geographic Earth Explorer NG 4474 Small Waist Pack is designed for carrying everyday personal gear along with a camera or camcorder. The bag’s protective zones safeguard the equipment without hindering access.

The Africa NG A6120 Duffel Bag is a convenient carry-all with a dedicated media pouch to protect a small DSLR and one small lens or small camcorder. The case is made from water-repellent polyurethane-coated 100% cotton. It has a padded interior and a water-repellent polyester lining. It has 2 easy-access pockets for accessories and a front organizer pocket. The satchel is carried by two handles or an attached, adjustable, thick shoulder strap.

So if the photographers on your list have been particularly good this year, give them gear from Kata that will make them even better!!! Have a great Holiday!
