Maestri House Frother: FirstLook / FirstUse

There is something about foam...

The RainyDayKitchen folks have looked at a lot of coffee-related gear over the years, but for some reason frothers never made it onto the review list. It’s not like we haven’t used them, we have and we do, all the time.

We decided it was time we remedied the oversight. After a bit of research, we realized the world of milk frothers was composed of three types:

The handheld and pot milk frothers are the ones we are the ones we have used in the past. They get the job done, but those units don’t offer much ability to customize (temperature, speed, etc). The detachable ones lean toward the more feature-rich end, which is why we are starting with them.

Maestri House

After looking around, the Maestri House detachable frother rose to the top of our list. Its compact, attractive design and reasonable price point really drew us to it.

AND it matches the plants 😉

The detachable frother has the following features, which, once we used it, really sold us on it!

  • Three temperature choices and three froth thickness choices;
  • 21 oz (600 ml) capacity jug with lid;
  • Touch button controls;
  • Dishwasher safe, easy cleanup.

We had no idea we could fall deeply, madly in love with an inanimate object (sigh)…

FirstLook

What’s in the package:

Not just a pretty thing – it’s magical to boot!

The 304 stainless steel milk jug is large, scratch-resistant, and dishwasher safe. It is also light, has a spout for pouring without splashing, and a stay-cool handle (which is terrific because the metal jug will be hot during use).

The stirring unit is made up of four pieces—holder, disc, spring, cover—that allow different combinations of whisking (heating milk, frothing milk, whisking hot chocolate, etc).

Stirring and heating are controlled by the well-balanced, stable base: a magnet in the base rotates the stirrer, and the heater gets the liquid to the set temperature.

A beauty indeed.

The panel and all of the buttons are sealed. The controls are touch sensitive. While obviously not immersible, the base is easy to clean and can be done by just a quick wipe of the surface.

Easy-to-understand controls – even if you haven’t had a cup of coffee yet!

FirstUse

Appliances intended to be used before the first cup of coffee in the morning need to be simple and foolproof. That way, water wouldn’t “accidentally be poured into the grinder portion of the coffee maker“…or something similar.

The Maestri House detachable milk frother is such an appliance!

The LED indicator light clearly indicates the current status of the frother, and a memory function holds the previous temp and froth settings, which make it easy to recreate good coffee outcomes without having to remember how to achieve it, especially when one might still be in the process of waking up…

All chosen choices illuminate, which is a big big BIG bonus for making that first cup of morning coffee the way you want it!

The unit offers three temperatures (120°F / 140°F / 160°F) and three whisking speeds, which gives you a good range of options for getting exactly the froth you want. The combo makes latte, cappuccino, and other coffee drinks a breeze to make!

Smoochie doochie doo! (Apologies, that’s the delirium of having fabulous foam fill my coffee cup with a touch of three buttons.)

FinalThoughts

This unit is everything we didn’t even know we could hope for and more. We have been using the unit for a week and have been able to consistently and repeatedly make amazing foam for our morning coffee, cup after cup!

NOTE: The stainless steel container will get HOT…which made us really appreciate the “stay-cool” handle during the “not fully awake” times 🙂
