QOR360 Active Chair : InTheWild

The spine "stacks" naturally and properly...this is not hokum!!!

Like a good mattress, an active chair is essential for proper body maintenance.

We made the switch from the Aeron to QOR360’s Ariel chair more than a year ago and have not looked back!!!

QOR360 – changing how you sit

Wait, where’s the rest of the chair?

Changing the seat

We don’t know why we ordered the black version, but as soon as we set up the chair, we realized that the red one would go better with the other, accoutremont, in the office.

We reached out to QOR and asked if we could return just the cover for a red one. QOR responded that because of the construction, they would need to ship an entire new seat, but they did offer to exchange it if we paid for the return shipping…fair enough 🙂

“Red and yellow and pink and green/purple and orange and blue…” Oh wait, that’s the rainbow.

The red seat arrived in a few day. With it off the base, we realized there were a few features we failed to point out in our FirstLook/FirstUse post:

  • Front/rear grab holds – allows for easy grabbing of the QOR seat
  • Active rocker – 360º motion
  • Back stop – keeps the seat from over tilting backwards

Not exactly “Twist and Shout” but pretty close.

Changing out the seat was a simple matter of removing the four anchoring bolts, nothing tricky about it. Replacement in less than five minutes.

Screws removed, and …

…Screws replaced.

And yes, the red seat definitely works better with the cart and the rug.

Raising the screens

To get the most out of the QOR360’s Ariel chair, the 24″ monitor needed to be raised to eye level so that when seated, our line-of-sight would not be down, but straight ahead, as this QOR tip suggested.

Must. Raise. Monitor. This Chair. Will Not. Let Me. Slouch.

The interns did a little research and found this MountUp arm for the screen. It attached to the rear of the deskholds the screen securely at any height, and can be easily positioned without tools. Perfect!

Somebody should tell NASA about this arm – it’s fantastic!

Raising the screen height made looking at the monitor while sitting on the QOR360 much more comfortable; we were not longer straining the back of the neck by looking down. Getting the 24″ monitor off the desk also gave back a good bit of usable space. Bonus!

“Wow I could put a lot more astronomy stuff on the desk now.”

Adding Wheels

After using the QOR360 for more than a year, we finally put some wheels on it the other day, and experienced a whole new way of active-sitting !!!

EXACTLY like a Hot Wheels Racer for kids – only for grownups, who have to work all day at a desk.

Changing out the “feet” to the wheels was a simple plug & play DIY: just pull, swap, push. We will share one trick which saved us a lot of effort: spray the stems with Teflon/silicone lubricant before trying to push it in. You will thank us for this tip.

We zipped, we zapped, we zooped, and then we were back in business!

We pulled, we swapped, we pushed – and then we were back in business.

With the wheels, we do have to be more mindful of staying “centered,” but being able to roll around with the QOR engages our core in ways we weren’t doing while just sitting.

An ergo-correct image if ever there was one.

We are really glad we got QOR360’s Ariel chair. It really has been a “game changer”!

  1. Hi,
Thank you for your interesting reviews. I was wondering if you would recommend the Stealtho wheels on the QOR360 active chair ?
    Best regards,

    • The Stealtho wheels are pretty good, but because they are silicone, they can grab skin if you wheel around bare-footed… yeah, OUCH 🙂 With that said, they would fit and should work just fine on any office chair, QOR360 included!!!
