It really feels like farmers/gardeners created these sleeves for themselves. Bonus for us!
Unlike wearing a long sleeve shirt, these sleeves with thumb holes offer protection to hands in addition to arms. Putting the sleeves on was easy and the rubber ring securely held the sleeve in place just over the bicep. Wearing gloves with the sleeve was not a problem.

We have a long fence that separates the RainyDayGarden from a well-traveled city street. Along that fence are some trumpet vines and as well as a 25-year old wisteria. All of the vines are healthy, vigorous, and have been extremely active because of the recent rains.
Welcome to our jungle.
We had been delaying pruning the vines because it’s a lot of work, but if we didn’t tend to them soon, we would likely be fined by the city as the branches were getting in the way of the pedestrians that used the sidewalk (and there are many).
It’s a jungle out there, too.
The Farmers Defense sleeves allowed us to get deep into the thick of the vines, work with or without gloves, and move around/through the thickets without any restrictions. The protection offered by sleeves was excellent.

We were able move freely with the sleeves on, and quickly trimmed the wisteria and trumpet vines on both sides of the fence. The folks doing the trimming did not get any scratches or insect bites…a big difference compared to the last time the same work was done!
A well-needed trim indeed.
Final Thoughts
The Farmers Defense Gardening Sleeves are an excellent addition to our gardening gear because they are functional, comfortable, and do exactly what they were designed to do: protect a gardeners arms and hands.
Readers might think wearing a long-sleeve shirt will do much the same thing, but the Farmer’s Defense sleeves are much more suited for getting “in the weeds” because they don’t get snagged on branches and what-not.
We think that they will also be great to pack when we go hiking out in the woods…more on that once we have had a chance to give it go!
