Urban Safari: The Clam Box 2.0

New owners. Same delicious food!

The Clam Box Spring “opening” was a tidge late this year…because it was sold in early February to chef/restaurateur Marko Fani. He also purchased Baja Box next door as well!

Marko already owns Strawberry Fair Restaurant in Norwell, MA—a place we can totally vouch for.

The Clam Box

RainyDayMagazine is no stranger to the Clam Box: its annual reopening has been a rite-of-Spring for the crew since 2010. When we heard that this season’s opening day Thursday 3/24, we were ready to drop everything and head over.

However, the grown-ups in the office insisted that we go see the new 3-hour long John Wick 4 movie that night (opening night), so we had to push out the Clam Box visit to the weekend…work, work, work.

They should mention the onion rings…

As prominently stated on its sign, the Clam Box opened in 1968. It has been owned and operated by the Schwanke family since 2005, and is a local gem because of its deliciously fried foods, its prime beach-front location, and its throw-back charm.

Give it a coupla weeks, this place will be jammers.

Marko has assured everyone that he has every intention of preserving The Clam Box’s menu and tradition, while exploring the possibility of making it open all-year-round.

We are warm to the idea, but we also love the whole “Hey, the Clam Box is reopening this weekend” ritual…

NOW OPEN – indeed it is

As frequent Clam Box goers will attest, NOTHING has changed inside the Clam Box…good flow, plenty of tables, and lots of window to look out onto the beach. The only things missing are a few framed photos.

March is way too brisk for outside seating, but tables have already been set up for those warmer days to come.

Inside, outside, Clam Box food taste great in either location!

Anyway, the Clam Box is now open for the season. The food is amazing, the lines in March are still reasonable, and the value for the money of the Fisherman’s Platter is still as good as ever!!!

Tummy: “Yummy-yummy.”
