Cucina Elegante Kitchen Cart: FirstUse/ITW
...still shiny and new!
We assembled the Boos Cucina Elegante kitchen cart last May and have been using it for close to a year. For those looking for a summary of our opinion on this cart is that it is stable, solid, and works as great as it looks! For those looking for details…read on 🙂
The general specs of the cart are:
- 1-1/2” thick edge-grain maple butcher block top
- Varnique semi-gloss varnish finish
- 30″L x 20″W (deep) x 35″H
- Two food service-grade stainless steel shelves (10.375″ between shelves)
- Stainless steel front on dovetailed drawer
- 3” locking caster wheels
A few things we noticed and/or realized after almost a year with the car:
- The cart rolls smoothly and silently even when loaded;
- When the wheels are locked the cart stays exactly where we put it;
- The drawer glides are heavy duty, operates quietly, and have a soft close;
- The top is way too beautiful to cut on;
- No part of the cart needed tightening after ten months of use.
The top has a tough Varnique finish that protects and seals wood, but it shouldn’t really be used for cutting. We never did, but that didn’t stop us from using the cart multiple times a day – basically every time we went into the kitchen! In all of our uses, the top cleaned up easily and required no maintenance.
When we did need to cut and chop, we used the Prep Master on top of the cart. At 24″x18″x2-1/4,″ the board is large enough to cover most of the top’s surface. After 10 years, the Prep Master is absolutely the cutting board we use the most in the RainyDayKitchen.
The shelves and handle (on one side of the cart) round out the functional utility of the cart.
FinalThoughts:
The Boos Cucina Elegante kitchen cart has been an elegant and useful addition to the RainyDayKitchen. We worked it hard almost every day this past year. The cart did everything we asked of it, took all that we threw at it, and it still looks as great as the first day we rolled it into the kitchen.
