RainyDay usually does an Autumn Gear Round-up, but we had planned an Autumn vacation and didn’t think we’d have the time to get to the round-up. So, we shifted seasons and decided to do a Summer Gear Round-up instead.

We cranked up the office AC, read all of the suggestions sent in from our readers, selected the most interesting gear requests, and got to work.

OluKai

Our recent mention of Oofos generated a lot of suggestions about other sandals that RainyDayReaders wanted to know more about. We checked out a whole bunch, and felt that the most promising ones were from OluKai.

Craftsmanship, comfort, and style are the criteria that footwear from OluKai has to meet, and they do that in spades. The inspiration for their line comes from the Hawaiian islands. OluKai’s goal is for their sandals to make each step feel like a walk on the beach.

We can relate to that!!!

SeaTec Outfitters

The best performing and most comfortable fabric on the market, and our “go to” for years is Graphene-X. However, as much as we love wearing black, some of our readers do enjoy switching things up a bit 🙂

This past Spring, a few RainyDayMagazine readers pointed us to SeaTec Outfitters and said we should check them out. Their stunningly unique artwork immediately caught our interest. Further investigation showed that performance, fit, and originality are the guiding principles the founders followed in creating SeaTec. OK, that’s a good sign 🙂

Recently, the SeaTec founder shared a little backstory on how they came up with the idea for their company. Even though they all come from different walks of life, they all love an active lifestyle, especially if it took place in/near the water. However, the gear they wore lacked something, so they decided to do something about it.

We hope they continue to expand their eye-catching and completely fresh line with more awesome fish skin-inspired designs!!!

What is more “Summer” than a sun tan? How about a tattoo? Don’t want a permanent one? Well, how about one where, if there are regrets, they will only last for a month, cost less than a light beer, and no needles are involved? Yes? Ok, then 🙂

Graphene-X

We have been big fans of Graphene-X’s clothing (Layer-X, All Rounder Shorts) ever since we heard they managed to create a super tough fabric that keeps the body cool/warm, and can be worn for days without smelling. We have touted them as the perfect clothes to pack for travel and vacations!

Some readers pointed out to us that they also wear the same clothes to swim in the ocean, without changing, and go to dinner…yes, going to a lobster shack counts as “going out to dinner.”
