Schumann Wave Generator: FirstLook

...for balance, focus, and healing.

What is the Schumann Frequency?

The Schumann Resonance was mathematically predicted by physicist Winfried Otto Schumann in 1952. The Schumann Resonance is a set of spectral peaks in the extremely low frequency (ELF) range of Earth’s electromagnetic field.

The Schumann resonances occur because the space between the surface of the Earth and the conductive ionosphere acts as a closed, though variable-sized, waveguide. The dimensions cause the waveguide to act as a resonant cavity for electromagnetic waves in the extremely low frequency band.

Triggered by lightning, the primary and most consistent frequency is 7.83 Hz. These waves are trapped within the cavity between the Earth’s surface and the conductive ionosphere, creating standing waves…as visualized by this NASA animation.

Why is the Schumann Frequency interesting?

Some people equate the frequencies to a natural “heartbeat” for the planet. Scientists use measurements of these resonances to study Earth’s lightning, ionosphere, and weather. Interest in Schumann resonances renewed in 1993 when E.R. Williams showed a correlation between the resonance frequency and tropical air temperatures, suggesting the resonance could be used to monitor global warming.

7.83 Hz frequency closely matches the range of human alpha (8-12 Hz) and theta (4-8 Hz) brainwaves. Theta, associated with deep meditation, REM sleep, and intuition, is linked to creativity, memory consolidation, and deep relaxation.

Claims that Schumann resonators or devices that can generate 7.83 Hz and other ELF frequencies can be used to improve health have been around for a while. While it may sound like hokum to some, mainstream science have started to test those claims in controlled laboratory settings. NASA is especially interested in it because of the potential implications for astronauts if they leave Earth long space missions.

2V PRO

When we started looking at Schumann frequency generators, we found lots of sellers of devices offering vague “healing frequencies.” YouTube has lots of video showing that many of these low cost generators are bascially useless.

What we wanted find a well-crafted and calibrated unit, offering dual-waveform technology (sine waves and square waves), that can generate a range of frequencies. We found that with the 2V Pro from DR Technologies.

The V2 Pro package came with:

The Frequency Guidebook has different chapters, each focused on a specific wellness goal, from sleep and stress to focus and energy, and the associated frequencies thought best for achieving those goals.

The Generator

The Schumann V2 Pro is capable of generating over 50 precise frequencies with a coverage of 250 square feet, sufficient for a large room 15’x15′ room.

The antenna is on the front of the unit. The maker called it a Mobius Coil. We were not able to find any information on the specific design, but we’ll reach out to the company and see if we can get more background on how it works.

Design & dimensions

  • Size: 100 × 100 × 18 mm
  • Weight: 220g

The three buttons on top of the unit are for selecting the shape of the wave generated (sine, square) and increasing or decreasing (+,-) the wave frequency. At the bottom of the device is the USB-C connector and On/Off switch.

Frequency output

  • Range: 0.01–999.99 Hz
  • Step Size: 001 Hz (precise tuning)
  • Output Power: 500mW
  • Magnetic Field Strength: 10μT (at close distance)
  • Coverage: 250 sq feet

On the back of the unit is a small LCD display and a view of the various ICs.

How it works

The V2 Pro works by generating electromagnetic (EM) waves, not sound waves. EM waves consist of oscillating electric and magnetic fields, while waves such as sound are caused by pressure-driven vibrations.

Unlike an audio speaker, which creates sound by pushing air via a cone, DR Technologies states that the V2 Pro uses a waveform frequency generator to produce the fields, and the antenna emits the generated frequencies in the form of EMFs.

Power & Performance

  • Input Voltage: 5V
  • Input Current: 1A
  • Charging Interface: USB-C
  • Input Power: 5W
  • Battery Life: 10–12 hours

The V2 Pro can work either from its internal battery or when connected to a wall socket. The LCD display on the back shows the state of the battery.

When in use, the EM waves are emitted by the antenna at the front of the unit. EM waves travel at the speed of light without the need of a medium, whereas sound waves are requiring a material medium (air, solid, liquid) in order to propagate, and at a much slower speeds.

We will charge up the unit charged, and take it through its paces. Look for the FirstUse write-up soon!

FirstThoughts

We have looked at many non-mainstream tech for health and personal improvements over the years, especially those which can help us eat, sleep, and feel better.

The Schumann V2 Pro fits perfectly into that space where our interest in technology, science, and “fringe-y” speculations/possibilities intersect.

The V2 Pro device appears well constructed. This unit is definitely NOT the same as the cheap “Shumann Frequency” generators we have seen on eBay or AliExpress. Also, we are uncertin about exactly what the Mobius coil actually is, and whether it is able to emit EM for any distance.

We have a whole bunch of questions, and we are sure interested readers will as well, which we hope to find answers to in the FirstLook writeup. Also, we will be logging our experiences with the V2 Pro and updating RainyDayReaders over the course of 2026.

We are intrigued about the possibilities around the Shumann Frequency and other frequencies, and we hope you will come along with us on this journey!

On a similar vein, while the Shumann Frequency is about waves in the electromagnetic spectrum, sound vibrations have also been associated with health and wellness. We will also follow up some of the claims using sound frequencies.

The average human hearing range spans frequencies from 20 Hz to 20,000 Hz (20 kHz). The body can physically feel vibrations and sounds ranging from below 1 Hz to at least 100 Hz. Frequencies in the  range of 20 Hz-60 Hz are primarily felt as body, bone, or chest vibrations rather than heard.

Speakers we are familiar with can generate frequencies down to 20 Hz, which is the lower limit of human hearing. Some high-end subwoofers are capable of producing tactile, infrasonic frequencies as low as 10–16 Hz. While those specialized subwoofers can reach 16–20 Hz, typical standard consumer woofers range is between 40 Hz and 2,500 Hz.

Utilizing tools like singing bowls, gongs, or tuning forks, sound therapy have been associated with promoting mental clarity, improves sleep, and can release emotional or physical tension. Sound vibrations have also been used for inducing deep relaxation, reducing stress, lowering blood pressure, and managing pain through stimulation of the vagus nerve.

About the kitten photo: cat purrs typically vibrate at frequencies between 25 and 150 Hz. This low-frequency range is consistent across domestic cats as well as many wild felids. Cat owners know about how the gentle purrs can reduce stress, lower blood pressure, and even possibly promote bone healing through their soothing vibrations…plus, you can hug them. Just say’in 🙂
