Teren Daily Driver Pants: FirstLook
Made for adventure!
Chinese New Year Traditions Explained….
Not everyone associates pants with high tech, but maybe they should! Fabrics, design, and a lot of other factors (performance, manufacturing, etc) are now part of the calculus when it comes to something as ubiquitous as pants!
We started looking at a simple pair of pants differently a few years back. A ten-day trip to Scotland with just a backpack convinced us of the merits of “minimalist packing.” Since then, we have fully bought into and have been proponents of the “buy better, buy less” approach to clothing (Graphene-X, Undrdog, etc).
Daily Driver Pants
At the end of 2025, a few RainyDayReaders pointed us to Teren Designs.
While they are a small company, their vision and goal of “pack less and adventure more” are big and completely in line with what we, at RainyDayMagazine, have been advocating.
We are excited to give their Daily Driver Pants a look, see how they perform, and if we should add them to our collection.
- DWR (Durable Water Repellency) fabric
- 4-Way stretch & gusseted seat
- Moisture-wicking, quick-drying, with built-in sun protection
- 6 pockets
Teren Design calls these pants “daily drivers” because their goal is to make a pair of pants that will become your go-to or ‘daily’ pants….something that is for everyday, every season, and anywhere. A pair of pants that are comfortable on the trail, at the office, or just hanging at home.
Details
The Daily Drivers are made using 91% Polyester and 9% spandex. This gave the Daily Drivers a softer feel, closer to a regular-weight fabric, and substantial enough for four-season wear. The waistband has five loops for belt support, and an internal hidden drawstring that provides additional security 🙂
What is DWR?
While the 9% mix of spandex gives these pants their stretch for comfort, the magic is the DWR fabric for easy care and wear.
The hydrophobic finish is a key component in outdoor clothing. It is the first line of defense against rain, preventing the fabric from “wetting out” and clinging uncomfortably, and reducing breathability. Also note that, unlike fully waterproof treatments, DWR allows water vapor (ie: sweat) to pass through, keeping the wearer dry, not just from the outside in, but also from the inside out.
Other details like zippered pockets and double stitching give these Daily Driver pants functional and structural features that we are certain we’ll appreciate the more we wear these pants.
One last surprise: the waistband is secured by a super-strong magnetic closure instead of a button. This allows for a secure fit when moving and slightly more comfort when sitting…clever!!!
Wash with any regular load, but these pants are HANG DRY ONLY, because the magnet could attach the pants to the dryer drum and potentially be ripped out. Fortunately, they’ll probably be dry before the time it takes to dry the load in the dryer. Steam to remove wrinkles if desired, but no iron.
FirstThought
Loose enough to be REALLY comfortable without being too baggy, unexpectedly light, and no unnecessary seams or zippers. Comfort, clean lines, and guaranteed forever? We are on board!!!
Keep an eye out for the FirstUse report once we have had a chance to wear them for a while 🙂
