Guinness and peanut butter…WHAT???
It's like drinking an alcoholic Reese's Peanut Butter Cup!!!
It was a simple question: “…you want a shot of peanut butter whiskey with that Guinness?”
OK, let’s step back a bit and catch our RainyDayCocktail readers up on how this all started 🙂
Napper Tandy’s
Our local is the Napper Tandy in Roslindale…a mere 1/2 mile stroll from the RainyDayMagazine office. Even after a night out, we can always find our way back, often without assistance 🙂
One evening, when ordering a Guinness, our bartender asked, “You want a shot of peanut butter whiskey (PBW) with that?” We were like…”What???”
Sensing our trepidation, she then said, “It’s on me if you don’t like it.”
Did we like it? We LOVED it. It’s like drinking a glass of Reese’s Peanut Butter cup.
Skrewball
Now that we are no longer PBW & Guinness virgins, we thought we would give it a go and see if we could make the delicious concoction at home. And we could!
Inspired by a bestselling cocktail, Skrewball is a whiskey created by founders Steven and Brittany Yeng. By combining both smooth whiskey and creamy peanut butter flavors, it’s become one of those surprising flavors that once sampled, people can’t stop talking about 🙂
Guinness & Skrewball
We don’t have a name for the Guinness & Skrewball drink, but it feels a lot like a boilermaker, an Irish slammer, or similar versions.
Recipe:
- Pour 1/2 pint of Guinness into a glass
- Add one shot (2 oz) of Skrewball into the glass
FinalThoughts
We had never even heard of peanut butter whiskey until our local bartender clued us in. Now that we are in the know, we are seeing all kinds of possibilities with Skrewball. How will it be in an Old Fashioned, espresso martini, or with Bailey’s Irish Creme? How about pouring it over vanilla ice cream or into a mug of hot chocolate? Or both???
We’ll let you know 🙂
