The Xyron 900 laminator is pretty simple to use.  There are three basic steps: Insert, Crank, Cut.  OK...four steps if you include selecting which cartridge to use.

For our first use, we decided to make some magnets out of the patterns cut using the Xyron PCS.  The only real trick to using the 900 is to make sure the object to be laminated is inserted deep enough so the rollers can grab hold of it when the crank is turned.

Since the width is about 11", more than one object can be fit at one time.  Proper planning will allow maximum use of the laminating material.

Once all the pieces are in position, turn the crank, make sure things are feeding through, and watch it out out the other side.  When it has cleared, used the built-in cutting blade to trim the piece from the roll.

There are many different types of cartridges available for the Xyron 900 (magnet, permanent adhesive, etc...).  The great thing about this machine is its simplicity... no electricity or heat required, highly portable, and safe enough for most kids to use.

Xyron

900

By Wan Chi Lau

We are familiar with glue guns, glue sticks, and double-sided tape.  When we first saw the Xyron 900, we weren't quite sure what to make of it.

After a quick demo by Beth at the CKC show, we caught on to its possibilities pretty quickly.

Not only will this unit make short work of putting adhesives on the back of delicate paper and intricate cutouts, it will also laminate, and make refrigerator magnets!

In the FirstLook review, we will take a look at this hand-held adhesive applicator/laminator/sticker maker and all its parts.

In the FirstUse review, we'll see just how easy this thing is to use.  If you can't wait, check out the short video clip of it in action at the CKC Scrapbooking Convention :-)

NOTE: The video clip is about 10 MB, so don't try viewing it unless you have a broadband connection :-)
