July 26, 2011- Sawmill Farm: The Wood Shed...

Our Vermont Outing to The Inn at Sawmill Farm was in mid-July, but the pleasant memories from our stay are still with us. It may be because we stayed in the Wood Shed. Now don't misinterpret, it is definitely not what you think. The Wood Shed is a charming, lovely, and quiet cottage in the back.

The Wood Shed is not actually a wood shed. It is next to the wood shed, but it is also right next to the outdoor pool :-) The cottage is the closest unit to the main Inn, but still far enough back to feel secluded. It is surrounded by towering pines and has a back deck which looks out onto a beautiful pond. The road leads right to the front of the Shed so unloading was simple.

This private cottage is a perfect spot for a romantic getaway. The main room has a cathedral ceiling and a wood-burning fireplace (not so applicable when it is 90º out, but you get the idea) opposite the foot of the king-size bed. The floor to ceiling windows gives an amazing view of surrounding woods. Off in the rear of the cottage is a large bathroom with double vanity, a jacuzzi tub, and a glass enclosed shower.

In the summer, the private deck was the perfect place for morning coffee or drinks while watching the moon rise. We can just imagine that in the winter a roaring fire in fireplace would make this one toasty hideaway. While the Wood Shed is perfect for a couple, it is also quite family-friendly. There is an upstairs loft with a single bed and a little rocking chair should you be traveling with a child, who would love it. Pets are also welcome in this cottage.

After two days in the cottage, we now understand exactly why the Wood Shed is one of the Inn's most requested accommodations. If you go for a stay, try to book the Wood Shed. You will not be disappointed, especially when you wake up to the scenery outside. One look and you will understand why as well. [Permalink] - Sawmill Farm: The Wood Shed
