A few months ago we attended a talk and book signing event at the Booksmith
in Wellesley. Gareth Hinds, a Boston-based graphic novelist, was giving a presentation on his process and workflow for creating
his wonderfully illustrated works.
The talk and subsequent Q&A session was a fascinating look at the steps required to adapt the classics into fully-painted graphic novels. Gareth showed how he used both traditional pen/pencil and current digital
tools to sketch and layout his books. Readers interested in seeing more of Gareth Hinds' work should check out his site and blog.
The Apple iPad is going to be a game-changer for those who love graphic novel and comic books. Companies such as Panelfly who are in the forefront of this wave will get a huge boost when the iPad hits the street in a month. We expect the iPad will give authors and artists new ways to engage and immerse their readers into a fantastical world as never before. It is going to be great!
If you are in Boston this Saturday and want to learn more about how to get into the market from those in the industry, check out the event at MassArt sponsored by the
Boston Graphic Artist Guild. The graphic novel industry is changing fast. For those with the skills and drive, it is a great opportunity to get in front of it. [Permalink] -Graphic Novels
