Gear & Gadgets...

The AZIO cell phone charger is made of two parts.  The first part is a cable with a USB connector at one end and a cell phone connector at the other end.  The second part is a cigarette lighter plug with a USB socket.

We don't know about you, but we would much rather carry a cable with us when we travel than the AC wall adapter brick!  When the cable is attached to the car adapter, it will charge a cell phone just like any other car charger.

What really sets the AZIO apart from the others is its ability to charge a cell phone via a computer's USB port.  This is perfect for road warriors with laptops or folks with keyboards that have extra USB ports.

Unlike other charging devices that come with various connector ends, the AZIO has different cables for different phones, so you need to make sure you get the right cable for your particular cell phone.  It would be great if the cell phone connector end was like those of the Charge2Go...maybe in the next version :-)

With the AZIO, we think we can permanently retire our Motorola wall charger...now if it would only let us upload data to our phone.

AZIO

USB Phone Charger

By Wan Chi Lau

There are many ways to charge a cell phone.  Most folks use the standard AC wall charger.  Some use a desktop unit with a cable that connects to an AC wall adapter.  Still others swap out dead batteries with batteries being charged in a charging station with a cable that - you guessed it - goes to an AC adapter that goes to the wall outlet.

AZIO has developed a product which, at first glance, looks just like any other cell phone car charger on the market.  After using it for a week, we've realized it is much more than that. This item has freed us from our cell phone wall charger, lightened our load on long trips, and made it easier to keep our cell phones charged when we are at our desks.

In this FirstLook/FirstUse review, we'll show you the basics of this simple, but very cool little gadget.
