RainyDayGarden...

The first garden we planted was AeroGarden's first generation unit.  In this updated version, the AeroGarden came with new packaging, some cosmetic changes in the unit, and improved light cycle programming for types of plants.

Everything was well packed and supported in this new box.  The old heavy duty cardboard box was designed for shipping.  This new box is more designed with in-store display in mind.

The assembly is pretty much the same as the previous version.  We'll refer you to that article for the details.

The herb seed pods construction are the same as the lettuce kit we had used in the previous AeroGarden.   The only difference with the HerbKit was there were different kinds of herbs.  The germination times and names were printed on the pods.

We placed the pods on the AeroGarden in the same order as they were in the kit.  The light timer setup precedure was exactly the same as the previous AeroGarden...you only have to turn it off once that night and it will cycle properly from that point on.

The entire setup process took about 20 minutes (we had a little trouble with one of the light bulbs and one of the dome was missing).  We are eager to see which would be the first pod to sprout!

AeroGarden Assembly

By Wan Chi Lau

Hydroponic gardening has been around for a long time.  Techniques and systems for growing plants in soil-less environments have been successfully created by amateur and professionals alike.

While the concepts and equipment necessary for a hydroponic garden is pretty simple to set up, it often quite industrial looking and definitely not something one would want in the kitchen.

AeroGrow has created a system that is both simple and attractive.

The AeroGarden was quick to assemble, easy to plant, and looks great anywhere in the house.

We will track the progress of the growth of the garden from planting (June 17th) to harvest.  We'll post the updates and photos every Saturday.
