The Slappa ShockShell line was designed specifically for the iPod Mini. This tough looking shell is made of a material Slappa calls "CORE3". The CORE3 skin is actually made of 3 layers of material (EVA, aluminum, PVC).
Traditionally, EVA (Ethylene Vinyl Acetate) is mainly used for shoe insoles, sport goods, mats for yoga, martial art padding, and machinery cushion. The EVA material is the inner most layer. It gives shock absorption and grip to hold the iPod in place. The middle aluminum layer gives the case structural strength. An outer textured rubberized surface makes the whole package easy to grip.
In combination... it is an attractive yet protective wrapping for the iPod Mini. Slappa claims an iPod Mini will survive the 3 foot drop test. We are taking their word for it. You are welcome to do you own drop tests.
The ShockShell has openings in all the logical places, including the bottom. This allows the iPod Mini to be charged while inside the case. A removable clip completes the package.
Slappa has a whole collection of different colors and patterns for those with more fashion sense than we at RainyDayMagazine. Go check 'em out at Slappa or go get one here.
