Good design is tricky to define, but you know it when you see it or feel it. The TerraTech is a well designed device that integrates a set of functions (digital compass, temperature, time, alarm, chronograph, LED light, and timer) into one compact unit. It comes with the same high quality lanyard as the HighGear AdventurePlus. The top cover is stainless steel. The surface of the unit is rubberized, a detail that makes the it comfortable to hold even when it is really cold out. The buttons are logically placed and easy to access...even with gloves on :-) If you keep the unit inside your coat, the temp reading will obviously be off. It took this unit about 10 minutes to recalibrate to the outside temperature... so keep this in mind when carrying it around your neck.The main display mode gives day, time, temp/date. The digital compass is simple to use... a bubble level aids in set up, a quick press of the index finger gives the reading. The bezel rotates to allow the user to set orientation based on the reading.

The TerraTech is a quality unit that is small in size and easy to pack with you other gear for day hikes are more extended adventures whenever the fancy strikes!
