Padding keep the tools from shifting and protect the drawer bottoms from getting scratched. Little did we know that we would receive a slew of suggestions for alternatives to using commercial paddings. Some folks line drawers with\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ehow.com\/how_2108172_recycle-bubble-wrap.html\">bubble wrap<\/a>, others use\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.familyhandyman.com\/DIY-Projects\/Indoor-Projects\/Workshop\/DIY-Tips-For-Your-Shop\/tips-for-a-tidy-workshop\">carpet reminants<\/a>, some even made custom-fitted liners with\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/blog.makezine.com\/2011\/08\/30\/how-to-form-fitting-case-drawer-liners-from-old-t-shirts-canned-foam\/\">expanding foam<\/a>! According to what we can gather, the technology protects metals against rust and oxidation by releasing an invisible, non-toxic, non-reactive, and odorless corrosion-inhibiting vapor which coats the metal. The coating does not change in the metal&#8217;s properties (strength, conductivity, etc&#8230;) and the protection can last for up to five years.
