iPhone Books

The  first order of business is…how are we going to learn how to program the iPhone? The good news is that there is an avalanche of resources available and many of them are free. Apple has an extensive online library for everything related to the topic. Many sites are devoted to the topic with tips and tutorial. There is also an increasing number of self-guided instructional books available.

We spent some time researching the various options and decided that, for us, a self-guided book would be the most convenient approach. Our reasoning was thus: we don’t want to have to sit in front of a computer all the time, we want to be able to do it while outside the office (in cafes, on the subway, etc..).

Once we settled on the self-guided approach, we still had to decide which book to use. We thought we would have to look through a lot of books before we would find something we liked. As it turned out, we found what we needed rather quickly. A while back, we reviewed a physics book from O’Reilly’s Head First series. The multi-learning approach taken by O’Reillly conveys new information to readers in an entertaining and digestible maner. So when we saw “Head First iPhone Development:A Brain-Friendly Guide,” we knew we had found our book.
