1. Donate Money:
We, like a lot of you did in the past week, made a donation to a charity to help with the disaster relief. What I found was how much easier it was to do it via PayPal! I have used PayPal extensively for EBay and other payments to folks I don't know, so it wasn't a stretch to use it to send donations. A lot of the charities don't have explicit buttons on their site for donating via Paypal...but PayPal does!
If you have a PayPal account...all you do is type in the amount, click send, and you are done. One other benefit and a most important one for me...no giving out of personal information.
There are LOTS of other places to go to if you want to help, here's a link to CNN's list of organizations.
If you can't choose one, the America Red cross and American Friends Service Committee are a good places to start.
2. Donate Frequent Flyer Miles:
American Airlines :
Allow you to donate AAdvantage miles to provide transportation for children who require medical treatment. You can donate online or call Customer Service at 1-800-421-0600.
Continental Airlines :
Accepts donations for American Red Cross, AmeriCares, Careforce and Healing the Children. They make it really easy, you just log in and donate.
Delta :
Accepts donations for The United Way and CARE. They have an automated telephone system you an call, at 1-800-325-3999. You can also email them at delta.bids@delta-air.com.
Northwest Airlines :
You can donate your WorldPerks miles to the Red Cross, AmeriCares, Habitat for Humanity, OxFam and Unicef by contacting Northwest directly at 1-800-327-2881. Minimum donation is 5000 miles.
United Airlines :
Accepts donations to the Red Cross. To donate, call Mileage Plus Customer Service at 1-800-421-4655.
3. Donate a percentage of EBay sale proceeds:
eBay Giving Works, the dedicated program for charity listings, makes it easy for you to contribute to charitable causes by trading on eBay.
Requirements to Sell:
1. You must be a registered seller on eBay. Register to sell
2. You must select PayPal or credit card as a buyer payment option.
